Rawhide Lose to JetHawks in Walk-Off
|
The inspired effort of Visalia third baseman Quinn Wika was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the Lancaster JetHawks. Wika was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Donald Umphenour snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-1 on the season. Weston Dagel suffered the loss. The win boosts the JetHawks to 33-41. The loss puts the Rawhide at 44-30.
The JetHawks were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 24-year old center fielder Juan Rubio landed a big blow. He turned a 3-1 fastball from Weston Dagel into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the The Hanger denizens into a frenzy and sent the JetHawks home with a thrilling 6-5 win.
"Now that's my kind of ending," said a smiling Rubio.
