Pittsburg Beats High Desert, 4-3
|
Pittsburg beat High Desert at Mavericks Stadium, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to left fielder Lukas Coffaro. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Pittsburg reliever Heath Sabala picked up the win to move to 2-2. Eli Peck suffered the loss. The Diamonds saw their win-loss record go to 11-64. At the same time, the Mavericks fell to 30-45.
Jody Fontenot had a direct impact on the outcome. Fontenot contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Pittsburg up, 4-3.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Coffaro.
