Giants Come Back Late to Clip Red Wave
|
The San Jose Giants withstood an impressive performance by Riverside left fielder Nathan Trossbach to defeat the Red Wave, 5-4, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Trossbach went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Anthony Bunker, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. Earning his 16th save of the year was Curtis Lynch.
San Jose took a 5-4 lead on Gerardo Rodriguez's 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Rodriguez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Riverside pitcher Osoro Luis visibly frustrated.
"Ah," said Rodriguez in a jubilant clubhouse, "the sweet smell of victory!."
San Jose's record now stands at 38-35, placing them 6th in the California League North Division.
