Nuts Pick Up 4-2 Road Win Over San Jose
|
Modesto pitcher Ramón Ortiz had a large part in his team beating the San Jose Giants, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Ortiz, now 11-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 8. Modesto has a record of 58-17, placing them first in the California League North Division.
Modesto used the timely hitting of Morgan Hood to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Nuts on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Hood.
