Diamonds Tag Storm with 4-1 Loss
|
Pittsburg and Lake Elsinore got after it at Lake Elsinore Diamond.
The Pittsburg Diamonds topped the Lake Elsinore Storm, 4-1, in California League action at Lake Elsinore Diamond. The game was highlighted by the performance of Pittsburg pitcher Mike Watford. Watford, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 2 walks. Hunter Crafton earned save number 5 this season.
The Diamonds got a big hit from third baseman Marc Gannon. In the top of the sixth, Gannon pounded a 2-run home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season put the Diamonds ahead, 3-1.
"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Watford.
Pittsburg, now 17-52, holds down last place in the California League North Division.
