Ventura Collects 3-1 Win

The Ventura Gulls and Lake Elsinore Storm played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
Ventura Gulls starter Jared Curran found his groove in his team's 3-1 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm. The last-place Storm dropped to 26-46.
Leo Bussell had a big run-scoring double for the Gulls in the bottom of the second inning. With Ventura leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Sohichiro Katayama and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gulls ahead, 2-0.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Bussell.
