Red Wave Take Down Stompers, 6-3
|
The Riverside Red Wave picked up a win at Bright House Field, downing the Sonoma Stompers, 6-3. On the mound for Riverside was right-hander Twain Polston, who played a pivotal role in the win. Polston yielded 3 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-7. The save was credited to Elijah Rudolph, his 15th.
Riverside used a well-timed hit by Don Halas to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Red Wave ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Polston. "Successful pitchers do it."
The Red Wave raised their record to 30-34.
