Storm Score Late to Win, 5-2
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Lake Elsinore Storm and Riverside Red Wave.
The Riverside Red Wave could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Osmond Walker into a win. Instead, the Lake Elsinore Storm prevailed, 5-2. Walker threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Lanny Whitten finished the game for Lake Elsinore and earned his 10th save.
Lake Elsinore used a timely hit from Kendry Guillen to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Storm ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Guillen told the Lake Elsinore Chronicle. "Whatever it takes."
Lake Elsinore's record now stands at 15-43, placing them last in the California League South Division.
