Martinez pitcher Isaac Book had a large part in his team beating the Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers, 8-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Clippers now have a record of 27-23.

Early in the game, first baseman Don Searles had a 3-run home run for Martinez. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Clippers on top, 3-0.

"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Clippers manager J.D. Ray.
