A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Bakersfield Blaze and Lancaster JetHawks.

The Bakersfield Blaze had to overcome a big game from Lancaster first baseman Edwin Simpson to leave The Hanger with a victory. And they did, winning, 5-3. Simpson went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Nicky Amaya, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.

Thad Larose helped out the Bakersfield cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 4.

"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Blaze manager Brian O'Kray.

Bakersfield goes to 29-22, Lancaster to 24-27.
