High Desert Tacks 5-1 Loss on Lake Elsinore
|
Pedro Sanchez, who is tied for 7th in the CAL in wins with 5, never let the Storm get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Mavericks to a win, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Sanchez, now 5-4. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The 4th-place Mavericks have won 5 consecutive games.
Logan May had a big 2-run home run for the Mavericks in the bottom of the second inning. With High Desert leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Keith Morrison and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Mavericks on top, 3-0.
"I believe in our guys," said High Desert skipper D.J. Schultheis. "I like the energy they're playing with."
