Clippers Come Up Short at Riverside, 5-4
|
Fans watched the Riverside Red Wave and the Martinez Clippers fight to the finish.
The Riverside Red Wave picked up a win at Roger Dean Stadium, knocking off the Martinez Clippers, 5-4. Starting pitcher David Parilla was a big reason why. Picking up the save was 25-year old left-handed pitcher Roberto Gaxiola.
Estevan Gladden had a big run-scoring double for the Red Wave in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Riverside leading 4-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Kale Abrams, who is tied for 7th in the CAL in innings pitched with 62.2, and swatted a double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Red Wave ahead, 5-2.
"We did enough to win," said Gladden.
With this game in the books, Riverside is 23-27, Martinez 33-17.
