Despite a great performance by Rancho Cucamonga center fielder Wayne Weber, the Riverside Red Wave defeated the Rattlers by the score of 10-5 at Hammond Stadium. Weber was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Wesley McCurry was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he yielded 5 runs on 10 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Riverside now sports a record of 24-21.

Riverside used a well-timed hit by James Gutiérrez to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Red Wave ahead, 6-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We hit the ball on the barrel," said Riverside manager Jim Young.
