Giants Take Home 3-0 Win Over Bakersfield
|
The San Jose Giants downed the Bakersfield Blaze, 3-0, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Starring for San Jose was pitcher Killian Murphy. Murphy, now 3-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Brian Lochridge nailed down the save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Giants had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when catcher Rory Keir hit a 2-run single. The single came off J.R. Wiggins and made the score 3-0, Giants. Keir went 2 for 3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We didn't score," said losing manager Brian O'Kray. "That was the problem."
San Jose's record now stands at 22-26, placing them 7th in the California League North Division.
