San Bernardino got a strong outing from José Garza as the Stampede defeated the Riverside Red Wave, 3-2, at Grainger Stadium. Yuriy Stashko picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Marvin Thompson was tagged with the loss. Riverside is now 1-5.

The decisive moment came in the bottom of the ninth for San Bernardino. That's when Heddwyn Piltz hit a solo home run off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Marvin Thompson to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Piltz.
