Pittsburg Edges Ventura in Extra Innings
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Pittsburg Diamonds and Ventura Gulls came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The performance of Warren Ortega proved critical in helping Pittsburg beat Ventura, 4-3, in 13 innings. The Diamonds second baseman went 4-6 with 4 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Pittsburg reliever Ross Herzberg picked up the win to move to 2-2. Johnny Delgado suffered the loss.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 13th. With one out, Ortega hit a sinker from Johnny Delgado for a run-scoring single. The Diamonds, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"What's not to like about a win?" said Ortega.

Pittsburg is in last place in the California League North Division with a record of 6-31.
