Clippers March On, Beat Blaze, 7-1
|
Jayson Sproull, who is tied for 2nd in the CAL in innings pitched with 50.1, had a strong outing for the Martinez Clippers against the Bakersfield Blaze at Recreation Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-1 win. Sproull yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 3-1. The Clippers, now 26-12, have won 10 in a row.
Aiden Skinner had a big bases-clearing triple for the Clippers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Martinez leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Brian Gilmore and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Clippers ahead, 5-1.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Sproull said.
