Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Santa Cruz Cruisers and Modesto Nuts.

The Modesto Nuts could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Sean Amengual into a win. Instead, the Santa Cruz Cruisers prevailed, 3-2. Amengual threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The win was credited to Patrick Potter in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Todd Maver took the loss. Picking up his 8th save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Russ Duggins.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Caleb Anderson? The 24-year old first baseman Anderson stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Santa Cruz up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.

Anderson attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
