Merino Batters Sonoma for 5 Hits
No matter what the Sonoma Stompers threw at him, Naldo Merino hit it. He easily handled Stompers pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Ports triumph, 12-7, at Bright House Field.

"The way I was swinging, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.

Told of Merino's quip, Stompers skipper Lorenzo Velarde said he "would take him up on that next time."

Naldo Merino flied out in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Lonnie Beard in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
