Giants Lose, 1-0, as Cruisers Rally
|
In a tight tilt between Santa Cruz and San Jose, pitcher Taurino Cerdan was a key contributor. The left-hander earned accolades for his standout performance in the 1-0 Cruisers win. Santa Cruz is second in the California League North Division with a record of 20-13.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 24-year old third baseman Robert Regis had a chance to be the hero. San Jose pitcher Park O'Brien wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Regis hit a sacrifice fly. The Cruisers had themselves a thrilling win.
"Taurino had good arm action, good stuff," said Santa Cruz manager Mike Brownlee.
