The Riverside Red Wave, despite a fine performance by Ventura pitcher Nathaniel Tautkus, grabbed a 3-2 win at Gulls Ballpark. Tautkus allowed 2 runs over 7 innings. The save was Tag Bryan's, his 8th. Ventura, now 7-20, continues its tough start.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Lyndon Scaife? The 24-year old third baseman Scaife stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Riverside up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"This team is capable of getting on a roll," said Riverside skipper Jim Young.
