Giants Win Thriller, 7-6
The San Jose Giants beat the Santa Cruz Cruisers, 7-6, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. San Jose center fielder Phillip Belcher led the way. He went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. San Jose reliever Chase Gifford was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Zach Casley took the loss. Their 20-8 record puts the Giants first in the California League North Division.

Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 24-year old left fielder Ruben Rodríguez had a real shot to win the game. Santa Cruz pitcher Zach Casley was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Rodríguez hit a run-scoring single. The Giants had a walk-off triumph.

"We got the victory," said Belcher. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
