Despite a great performance by Virginia shortstop Isiah Crudup, the Portland Hops defeated the Black Bears by the score of 6-5 at The BeerGarden. Crudup was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Justin Adkins was credited with the save for Portland, his 17th of the season. The Hops improved to 33-57.

Jared Calhoun had a productive trip to the plate with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single, helping Portland to the win.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Calhoun.
