Nuts Losers, 5-4, Versus Martinez
|
The Modesto Nuts and Martinez Clippers provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Martinez Clippers beat the Modesto Nuts, 5-4, at John Thurman Field. Steve Channell, in particular, was impressive. He was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Getting the save was Brandon Batey, his 5th.
Channell had a timely hit for Martinez in the top of the sixth. With Martinez trailing 3-2, he turned a first pitch fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Martinez.
Said losing manager Mark Pollack: "'I liked the effort, just not the results."
Martinez is now 14-11.
