Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Daniel Howard, the Riverside Red Wave lost to the Bakersfield Blaze, 9-8, in 11 innings. Howard went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Bakersfield reliever Hunter Helstrom picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tom Farinella took the loss. The defeat makes Riverside 9-10.

The Blaze relied on catcher Pablito Jauregui for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Jauregui said.
