Bakersfield Decked by Brown, JetHawks
|
The Lancaster JetHawks defeated the Bakersfield Blaze, 10-0. Doing his part was left fielder Tyler Brown, who was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 5. Matt Valentine got the win, improving to 2-2. He held the Blaze to no runs on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Bakersfield is 13-6 after the loss.
Edwin Baker had a big 3-run home run for the JetHawks in the bottom of the second inning. With Lancaster leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Connor Portmann and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the JetHawks on top, 4-0.
"What a debacle," groaned Bakersfield manager Owen Wood in postgame remarks.
