The Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres will take the Wild Card Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Diamondbacks beat the Padres, 4-3, at Petco Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Arizona right-hander Eli Zile had a big role in the win. He threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Scott Lane? The 24-year old left fielder Lane stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Arizona up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.

Lane told a Arizona Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
