The Salem Red Sox got a strong performance from pitcher Monty Mitter, who stymied the visiting Riverside Red Wave en route to a win, 5-2, in Game 2 of the A+ Championship Series. The Red Wave could never get a bead on the right-handed Mitter, who threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The Red Sox now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.

The Red Wave had trouble solving Mitter, who surrendered 2 runs on 5 hits over 8.1 innings.

Mitter told a Salem Daily reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Roger Dean Stadium in Riverside.
