Blitzed by Burke, Loons, LumberKings Sink Further in RCS
|
When the games really matter, the Great Lakes Loons put on their best show, beating the Clinton LumberKings by a final score of 4-0. Irvin Burke was 5 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Great Lakes now leads Clinton 3-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
There was more than one reason the Loons beat the LumberKings, but Burke's big at-bat in the bottom of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-0 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.
"We aren't quitting," Clinton manager Fernando Vasquez said. "Yeah, the odds are definitely in their favor, but they've got to earn it."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dow Diamond in Midland.
