Divisional Series Game 1 Victory for Torres and Everett
Everett AquaSox manager Johnny Stricklin knew it was a gamble to give the start to rookie Martin Torres. It was a good gamble to take.

Pitching in front of a supportive hometown crowd, the 21-year-old right-hander silenced the visiting Boise Hawks at Everett Memorial Stadium. The AquaSox shut out the Hawks by a final score of 6-0, to give the AquaSox a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.

Torres was in the zone, shutting down Boise hitters over 6.1 innings. Torres, who threw 85 pitches, allowed no runs on 3 hits. He also tallied 8 punchouts.

Torres called the win "a collective effort."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Everett Memorial Stadium in Everett.
