Riding the 3-hit performance of first baseman Farid Cruz, the Aberdeen Ironbirds got a road win against the Staten Island Pizza Rats, 13-6, in Game 2 of the Divisional Series. Cruz went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Ironbirds, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.

Carlos Aguilar, the Aberdeen left fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 9-6, Ironbirds. For the game, Aguilar was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

Aguilar said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen.
