Almost There: Dunedin On Cusp of DS Triumph After 2-1 Win
|
The 21-year-old rookie on the mound turned out to be the least of the Hudson Valley Renegades worries.
Giving a high-pressure playoff start to youngster Nicky Bross seemed like a risky move for the Renegades, but it was one of the few things that went right at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Bross tossed 6.1 solid innings, but it was all for naught after Hudson Valley dropped a 2-1 decision. With the win, Dunedin took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
Dunedin used the timely hitting of Kyle Rasmussen to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Rasmussen.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Wappingers Falls.
