Pizza Rats Even With Black Bears After Home Win
The Staten Island Pizza Rats knotted up the Wild Card Series at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, thanks in large part to starter Ryan Jacobs. Jacobs quieted the West Virginia Black Bears, enabling Staten Island to grab the 7-0 win and move into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.

One pivotal at-bat came in the top of the third with one out. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Black Bears trailing 2-0, Ryan Jacobs needed to make a quality pitch. He threw a 1-1 fastball to retire Chipper Anderson, who flied out.

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Dutchess Stadium in Morgantown.
