C Cox Lights Up Muckdogs for 5 RBIs as Spikes Extend Lead
|
The State College Spikes are one game away from a sweep after downing the visiting Batavia Muckdogs at Bowman Field, 9-4. Spikes catcher Glenn Cox was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. State College now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
A key moment came with two out in the bottom of the third. That's when Cox hit a forkball from Kurt Scheer for a 3-run home run, putting State College up, 6-2.
"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'State College Spikes (probably) 2058 A- Championship Series Champions'," Cox told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bowman Field in Williamsport.
