The Grand Junction Rockies wasted no time taking the lead in the Regional Championship Series, beating the Pueblo Indians at Indians Ballpark by the score of 5-3. The win gives Grand Junction a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Rockies right-hander Cliff Zhang threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball.

Grand Junction used a well-timed hit by Josue Valdez to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Rockies ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"When you have a good rhythm and good flow, it's nice to just go out there and pound the strike zone with confidence," said Zhang.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Indians Ballpark in Pueblo.
