Blue Jays Escape Mudcats in 10, Now Lead Series 1-0
|
The Dunedin Blue Jays took the first game of the Wild Card Series in dramatic fashion, topping the Carolina Mudcats, 4-2, in an extra-inning walk-off win. Blue Jays left-hander Sancho Ortega threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball.
Dunedin got a knockout punch from Hunter Krupinski. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Every team in baseball loses," Mudcats manager Trajano De Leon said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin.
