Road Win Lifts Olympia to 2-1 Lead in DS
|
When he got to Olympia, Evan Panfil was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Divisional Series.
The 21-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the host Yakima Valley Pippins, 5-0, in a remarkable performance at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. With the win, the Spartans took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
Panfil, who was born in Draper, Utah, threw 77 pitches over 6 innings, while allowing no runs.
"I liked his command," said Olympia manager Nick Kalous. "Evan was throwing strikes."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in Yakima.
