Roughnecks Hammered by Calvo, Drop Game 3 to Pride
|
The Peoria Pride have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Ahwatukee Roughnecks, winning, 6-3, at Roughnecks Ballpark. Pride designated hitter Taffarel Calvo was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Pride to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Wild Card Series.
In the top of the first, Calvo pounced on a 1-2 sinker from Fred Gauthier and hit a 3-run home run. It put Peoria on top, 3-0.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Pride manager Juan Ybarra said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Roughnecks Ballpark in Phoenix.
