Indians Beat Voyagers, 4-2, to Start WCS
|
The Pueblo Indians wasted no time taking the lead in the Wild Card Series, beating the Great Falls Voyagers at Centene Stadium by the score of 4-2. The win gives Pueblo a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Indians right-hander Horado Pérez threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball.
Pueblo used the bat of Sonny Chambers to get the win. The pinch hitter hit a fastball from Roan Green out of the park for a 2-run home run. The blast came in the top of the ninth inning and put the Indians on top, 4-2. It was Chambers's lone hit, but it left a mark.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Indians manager Evan Zahner said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Centene Stadium in Great Falls.
