Home Field Advantage: Ross, New Hampshire Open Wild Card Series with Win
The Wild Card Series got off to a quiet start today, with the host New Hampshire Fisher Cats taking a low-scoring 3-2 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. New Hampshire right-hander Layton Ross was marvelous at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The Fisher Cats now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Kristion Golson went 1 for 4 for New Hampshire. In the bottom of the fifth, with the teams deadlocked, 0-0, Golson delivered for the Fisher Cats. His run-scoring ground out put New Hampshire on top, 1-0.

"We're one game closer to our goal," New Hampshire manager Rich Hernandez said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.
