AquaSox Win Again, Extend Series Lead to 3-0
Everett AquaSox manager Domingo Martínez knew it was a gamble to give the start to a rookie. It was a good gamble to take.

Pitching in front of a hostile crowd, 23-year-old right-hander Hector Escalante silenced the host Spokane Indians at Avista Stadium. The AquaSox shut out the Indians by a final score of 2-0, to give the AquaSox a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.

Escalante, a native of Las Charcas, Dominican Republic, was dealing all game. He kept Spokane hitters off-balance, while giving the AquaSox 8 quality innings. Escalante threw 90 pitches, allowing 6 hits and striking out 5.

"We aren't quitting," Spokane manager Brice Bargman said. "Yeah, the odds are definitely in their favor, but they've got to earn it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Avista Stadium in Spokane.
