Dicks, Clippers Wallop Barons in Game 1 of DS
|
The Columbus Clippers started the Divisional Series in dominant fashion, blowing out the host Birmingham Barons at Raley Field by a score of 14-1 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Clippers second baseman Dallas Dicks went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5.
Dicks had a key at-bat in the top of the third to put Columbus in front, 5-1. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run off Birmingham pitcher Erinyo Zamarripa.
"Solid performance from our side," said Clippers manager Scott Manning.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Raley Field in Birmingham.
