Galvan Blasts Pippins, Hawks Take Game 4, 8-5
|
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot Yakima Valley Pippins team, the Boise Hawks had a tough assignment. Draco Galvan delivered.
The Hawks left fielder was unstoppable for the visitors, as he was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 8-5. Galvan, 22, earned accolades for his efforts. The win means Boise now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Giorgio Menendez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Yakima Valley pitcher Kevin Hien, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boise on top, 6-5.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Galvan told the Boise Daily.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Memorial Stadium in Boise.
