Gold Beach Bats Cold in 5-0 Loss
The Bend Rafters got a stellar effort from pitcher Elton Lewis, helping Bend score a win over the visiting Gold Beach Sea Unicorns, 5-0. Lewis, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Bend sits in 7th place in the Northwest League South Division at 33-37.

Alejandro Najera had a big 3-run home run for the Rafters in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Bend leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Juan Jones and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rafters ahead, 5-0.

"I was seeing the ball well tonight," said Najera.
