Riverside Sent Home with 5-4 Loss
|
The Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers overcame a good performance by Riverside catcher Wayne Buapetch to knock off Riverside, 5-4, at Hammond Stadium. Buapetch was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Rancho Cucamonga pitcher Denny Murphy earned the win, hiking his record to 1-2. Osmond Walker suffered the loss. Getting the save was Woody Antonioli, his 5th.
Quinton Adkins, who is tied for 3rd in the CAL in home runs with 5, chipped in a solo home run for Rancho Cucamonga in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Adkins. "But I have better dreams after a win."
The Red Wave drop to 8-10, as their stumbling start to the 2059 season continues.
