Renteria Powers Cyclones to 11-7 Win
|
Derek Renteria left his imprint on the 11-7 Brooklyn win against the Tri-City ValleyCats. Renteria, who is tied for 2nd in the NYP in home runs with 13, went 3-6 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Noah Sellers closed the game out for Brooklyn, earning his 14th save. The win for the Cyclones lifted their record to 37-31.
Chepito Meleña hit a run-scoring triple off Clinton DeWit in the top of the first, which put the Cyclones in front, 1-0. Meleña had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 5.
"Enjoyed this one," Meleña told the Brooklyn Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
