Rapids Edge Past Lake Monsters, 8-7
|
The Niagara Falls Rapids had to overcome a big game from Vermont designated hitter Isaiah Yorks to leave Centennial Field with a victory. And they did, winning 8-7. Yorks went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The 'W' lifts Niagara Falls's record to 24-43.
Niagara Falls used the clutch hitting of Dave Long to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Rapids the lead, 8-7. For the game, Long had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
Despite the victory, Long was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
