The Tri-City ValleyCats downed the Gold Beach Sea Unicorns, 11-3. The hitting star was left fielder Justin Ekins. Ekins was 2-4 with a triple and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the ValleyCats. After today's action, Tri-City sits at 30-36; Gold Beach slips to 22-44.

The ValleyCats got a big hit from catcher Sal Nornhold. In the bottom of the seventh, Nornhold pounded a 3-run home run to left-center. His 2nd home run of the season put the ValleyCats ahead, 10-1.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Ekins told the Tri-City Bulletin.
