The Visalia Rawhide could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Kyle Waitzman into a win. Instead, the Martinez Clippers prevailed, 5-2. Waitzman threw 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The win was credited to Ezra Banks in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Terrance Dean took the loss. Dan Everts earned his 9th save, after closing out the game.
Roman Turner came through with a big-time hit for Martinez. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"A great game, a great day," said Turner about the win. "I can't complain."
Early on, the Clippers, at 14-6, have excelled.
