Blanco goes 4-for-4 to Ignite Red Sox Offense
The Salem Red Sox powered past the Virginia Beach Mariners, 12-8, at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Yesmuel Blanco provided some of the pop. He went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 times. Liam Vinette, the winner, is now 1-1. He struck out 4 and walked 3 over 5 innings, while allowing 6 runs on 7 hits. At 57-76, the Red Sox are currently 8th in the East Coast League Mideast Division.

Ryder Rhen had a big 2-run double for the Red Sox in the bottom of the third inning. With Salem leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a splitter from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Isaac Munroe and swatted a double to center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Red Sox ahead, 4-1.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Rhen said.
