Flying Tigers Handle Fire Frogs, 6-1

The Lakeland Flying Tigers topped the Florida Fire Frogs, 6-1, in East Coast League action at Osceola County Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Lakeland pitcher and Houston, Texas, native Ryan Hotchkiss. In 7 innings, Hotchkiss surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. At 56-80, the Flying Tigers are currently 8th in the East Coast League Florida Division.
Lakeland used the clutch hitting of Bobby Novotney to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Flying Tigers ahead, 6-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Novotney told the Lakeland Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
