Joey Samoska made an impact in the 7-4 Oxford win over Florida. Samoska, who is tied for 7th in the ECL with a .511 slugging percentage, was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2. With the win, the Owls improved to 71-61.
Oxford used a well-timed hit by Steve Stevens to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Owls ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
Oxford manager Yasel Pimentel was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
