Carrillo Slugs Flying Tigers to 6-4 Win
|
The Lakeland Flying Tigers finished off the Hudson Valley Renegades, 6-4. Much of the credit belonged to designated hitter Francisco Carrillo. Carrillo went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Flying Tigers. Ed Butler, the winning pitcher, is now 10-8. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 0. Oliver Harsh earned the save, his 24th, for the Flying Tigers.
Carrillo contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Lakeland in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Carrillo took a fastball from Evan Caldwell and stroked the home run to left. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Flying Tigers to leap in front, 3-1.
"They beat us fair and square," Hudson Valley skipper Bentley Love said.
Lakeland sits in 4th place in the East Coast League Florida Division at 68-63.
