Lakeland catcher J.R. Sticht pounded Virginia Beach Mariners pitchers at Virginia Beach Ballpark, but it was not enough to keep the Flying Tigers from falling, 8-4. Sticht was 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The win puts the Mariners at 64-61, while the Flying Tigers drop to 53-72.

V.J. Hutchinson was 1-3 with a walk for Virginia Beach. The 24-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jeremy Whitehead. It was his 15th walk of the season.

"The credit goes to our offense," said Virginia Beach manager Janry Veloz.
