Renegades Slap 7-5 Loss on Fire Frogs
|
The Hudson Valley Renegades bested the Florida Fire Frogs by a score of 7-5, with first baseman Phillip Villarreal getting the main credit. On the day, Villarreal was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Renegades. Hudson Valley reliever R.J. Cook was the winner. His record is now 5-2. Jason Caldwell took the loss. Jayden Mays recorded the save, his 13th.
The Renegades got a lift from left fielder Jason Estrada, who in the top of the seventh stroked a 1-2 changeup into right for a run-scoring single. It was his 119th hit of the season and put the Renegades ahead, 7-5.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Villarreal.
The Renegades improve their record to 74-50 with the win over Florida.
